It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas ...

Date Added: 15/12/2017

While most of the country has been covered in a few inches of Snow this week, here in Boston, we woke up to a picturesque dusting, resembling a scene from a Christmas Card, on Sunday morning. However, within a few hours, it had all melted and just continued to sleet throughout the day.
We would prefer the weather to stay dry and cool but for the temperature to stay above zero for our harvesting team.

Sprout harvesters are working hard and from this week, we have 22 Sprout harvesting machines in the fields as we aim to harvest over 2500 tonnes of Sprouts in the next fortnight.

Our brand new Brussels Sprout grading facility is running at full speed to fulfil our customers requirements over this festive period.

Sprouts - you either love them or hate them. However, if you’re not a fan give them another try. Modern varieties have been developed to be much sweeter and nuttier than the bitter, soggy Sprouts you’ll remember from your childhood.

Cauliflowers are now a popular addition to the Christmas dinner plate. The majority of our Christmas Cauliflowers will be harvested in Cornwall as they experience more ‘tropical’ temperatures throughout Winter, unlike Lincolnshire they are less prone to severe frost.

All Sugar beet is now harvested and the ploughs are chasing behind the harvesters making sure the fields are ready for next year’s plants.
For all you Christmas fans believe it or not we are already planning for Christmas 2018 and making sure we secure enough land and plant enough seeds!

Premium Lincolnshire Potatoes are flying out of our Potato stores to the packers eventually destined to feature on the Christmas Dinner plates of many from Roast to Mash Potatoes.

With our complete range of Brassica and Potatoes, all you need to accompany our selection of Vegetables on your Christmas plates is Turkey and Cranberry Sauce.
For all you Vegetarians out there we have even managed to help provide a Meat Free alternative to Turkey this year, with a Cauliflower Wellington featuring TH Clements Cauliflower as the star of the show, which will be available to buy in stores next week.

Don’t forget to tune into ‘Inside the Christmas Factory’ on BBC 2 on Monday 18th December at 7.30pm to watch Cherry Healey visit TH Clements to discover more about how we harvest and pack 190 Million Brussels Sprouts.

Finally, if you are fortunate to have some of our Sweet Sprouts or Tasty Cauliflower on your plates this Christmas – Enjoy with a glass of wine and spare a thought for all the 275 staff at T H Clements finally putting their feet up after this busy but exciting time of the year!

From all, at TH Clements we wish you a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!!
