Snowy Spring

Date Added: 19/03/2018

After battling the Beast from the East at the beginning of the month and with roads now clear, we thought Spring would finally appear. However, we were wrong as the cold weather has returned with freezing temperatures and icy winds.

The Cold Weather has meant that we've stayed in Cornwall with crops longer than normal as the winter weather has slowed down crops there and in Lincolnshire.

It's been a frustrating start to the busy planting season, however, the strong winds over the past few days have dried out the land. Today we've sent out 10 planters, with hope that we catch up with our planting programme and get back on track. These crops will be ready to harvest between the end of May and the beginning of June.

With Easter just around the corner, we are hoping that spring finally appears bringing drier and warmer weather, so that we will be harvesting in full flow again, ready for those Easter orders.

This month we say goodbye to Lincolnshire Brussels Sprouts until August, as we harvest and pack our final Sprouts for this season!

As you're busy stocking up on Chocolate Eggs ready for Easter, it's worth knowing that Savoy Cabbage, Green Cabbage, Spring Greens, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Leeks and Kale are all in season right now and accompany Spring Lamb rather well!
