Creamy Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 cabbage (de-core and shred)
  • 50g Diced bacon
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon of Pepper
  • 190ml Milk
  • 1 cup Soft bread crumbs

Recipe

  1. Boil cabbage for 7 minutes, drain and place in a large casserole dish
  2. Fry bacon; remove and drain all but 2 tablespoons of the dripping.
  3. Stir in flour, salt and paprika into the pan with the dripping ; add milk slowly and cook until thickened.
  4. Pour sauce over cabbage, top with breadcrumbs and sprinkle with bacon.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 1900c / 3750F / Gas mark 5
